Excavation & Grading in Central Kentucky
Mass excavation, cut-and-fill, fine grading and building pads — from 154-acre hospital sites to a single residential basement.
Earthwork done right the first time
Excavation is the backbone of every site, and it's been the core of Phillips Brothers Construction since 1981. Our fleet of excavators, dozers, loaders and compaction equipment lets us shape any site in Hardin County and Central Kentucky — large or small — to grade and on schedule.
We've moved earth for some of the region's largest projects, including 154 acres for Owensboro Health's regional hospital, 100 acres at Fort Knox Human Resources Command and 250,000 cubic yards of embankment for the Freeman Lake Reservoir Dam. We're just as ready to dig a basement for a new home.
What's included
- Mass excavation and cut-and-fill
- Rough and fine grading
- Building pads and foundation excavation
- Rock excavation
- Soil and lime stabilization
- Stone subbase for pavements
- Embankments, dams and earthen structures
- Residential basement and lot excavation

We self-perform the full earthwork package with our own equipment and mechanics, and our estimators model your site before we bid — so quantities are accurate and schedules hold. Our earthwork crews built 14+ miles of new highway on KY 313 and finished the largest GC project in Fort Knox history ahead of schedule.

What equipment do you use?
We run our own fleet of excavators, dozers, loaders, compaction equipment and trucks, maintained by in-house mechanics.
